President's Message

Last week (May 12th) we heard from Stefanie Olson of Rittenhouse Village who shared the “Inside Scoop of what to look for when shopping for Assisted Living!” Tips and tricks of the trade!

This week (May 19th) we have a special guest coming to our meeting. Antony Butcher will be joining us 1000 miles into a solo bike ride from New York to San Francisco, which he is doing to raise money for multiple sclerosis research and raise awareness about mental health. We'll also be joined online by members of the Rotary Club in Yorkshire, England. Come to the meeting to welcome Antony and the members from England.

We will be meeting at Patrick's Grille starting at 11:45 and online starting at 12:15. (To access the online meeting, click on Join our Club Meeting in the navigation pane.) Hope to see you there.

The Rotary Foundation is the Heart of Rotary
Thank you to all of those that have already given this year to support the life-changing projects that we have accomplished this year from District 6540. Your gifts have built playgrounds for youth through Habitat for Humanity and local partnerships, provided food and supplies for those in need, safety equipment for local first responders and educational resources for schools and libraries. Our Global Grants have provided Oxygen plants for hospitals, Dialysis equipment and a Mobile Mammography unit. We have saved lives by providing pediatric cardiac surgeries so that children in India live past the age of 5. Students are staying in school and leading healthier lives through water and hygiene projects in India and Mexico. Our TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) has truly changed and saved lives this year. With your gifts this year to Annual Fund – Share, we can do the same in 3 years!

The Rotary International Foundation started in the early 1900s with a contribution of $26.50 from each of the Rotary members at that time.  In order to keep this tradition going I am suggesting that we contribute $60.00 (adjusted for inflation) to either the Annual Fund or to Polio Plus.  This would not only support the programs of the international organization but also those of the district and potentially our own club.

Clarification of Dues and Meal Costs
There seems to be some confusion about dues and meal costs.  To clarify:

Regular Active members' dues are $150.00 every six months.
Corporate members' dues are $205.00 every six months which covers a primary member and a designated alternate.  If more than one alternate is desired it is $55.00 every six months for each additional alternate.

Meal costs are $15.00 paid at the door.

Corporations have the option of paying $300 to cover all meals for one person per meeting for six months.
