During the April 9th meeting three projects were presented to support those affected by the coronavirus.
- Encouragement Cards and items for the elderly, first responders and Healthcare Workers
- At the last board meeting it was decided that we should find ways to support the elderly by purchasing books and crafts they can work on during the shelter in place order. Some ideas were
- Crossword puzzles
- Sudoku puzzles
- Reading books
- In the mean time, JIm Welborne developed an 'encouragement card" which could be placed in the puzzles or books.
- Rotarians can download the Microsoft Word template from the website by choosing Encouragement Card Template on the menu. Once downloaded you can
- change the graphics and/or verbage
- print multiple copies of the template
- fold the printouts into 4.25" by 5.5" cards
- deliver the cards to the Salvation Army or drop them off to responders, Healthcare Workers or any other persons helping others in this time of need.

- When we get a sufficient supply of cards at the Salvation Army, we will ask for volunteers to purchase the puzzles and books and distribute them to the elderly.

- During her presentation DebbieTatum discussed making masks and gowns for health care workers. Subsequently Jessica O'Brien sent an email to all of us on how to make gowns and masks.

- Food pantry donations
- Lastly the board decided it would be a great service to donate funds to food pantries in Michigan City. To accomplish this a choice called Food Pantry Donation ha been placed in the page displayed after choosing Donations in the menu.
