On Nov. 8, 2012, Representative Pelath was elected Indiana House Democratic Leader by his colleagues and has twice been elected a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions in 2000 and 2012.

He has two daughters, Israel and Isabella, and one son, Leo.

Mayor's Coat Drive
St. Anthony’s in Michigan City is collecting gently used coats to assist in the Mayor’s coat drive.  Sr. Cheryl at the hospital is collecting them in her office.   Concord Cleaners has generously offered to clean them for free.

The coats can be dropped off any time through January 15th.  If you get them to the front desk, they can get them to Sr. Cheryl. Though, her office is just to the right of the front desk.  The Mayor is asking for children and adult sized coats.
How Rotary is assisting in Puerto Rico

In September, Hurricane Maria pummeled Puerto Rico, the strongest storm to make landfall on the island in 85 years. More than two months later, people are still struggling to recover. The immediate response from Rotary clubs was quick and precise. Now local Rotarians are focusing on recovery and reconstruction. Discover how you can help.

Give the gift of Rotary
This holiday season, give the gift that makes a difference. For more than 100 years, The Rotary Foundation has been supporting the work of Rotary members in creating sustainable solutions to the world's most pressing needs. When you give the gift of Rotary, you become part of the positive change Rotarians are making in your community and around the world. See what your gift supports.

Rotary advisers put polio on world stage
A group of Rotary volunteers has been hard at work behind the scenes making happen events like the historic $1.2 billion commitments for polio eradication at the Atlanta Convention in June. The PolioPlus national advocacy advisers are a team of Rotarians from donor countries who work their connections in the corridors of power, garnering money and support for ending the disease. We checked with three of them to find out what went into their recent successes.

Pathways to PeacePathways to Peace Series: Peace in the Age of Uncertainty

The 21st century has ushered in an era of rapid and at times incomprehensible change. Citizens in communities great and small are living in a near constant state of social, political, economic and cultural upheaval. Simply put, people no longer feel safe and secure in their lives. From crime on the streets of Chicago to human rights violations in Syria and unending war in Afghanistan, people are increasingly convinced that the world is falling apart. The reality is that in many ways, the world is healthier, more prosperous and more peaceful than at any time in history. Thus we face the paradox of a world that is both turbulent and tranquil at the same time. How do we calm the unrest, spread prosperity and show that the world can be, and in fact is, a better place to live?
