Our club is presenting police, fire and educator Service Above Self awards annually. Thanks to a suggestion from Lance Werner we will know add a JROTC award to the list of awards presented annually.The award, dating back to 1988, recognizes Rotarians or non-Rotarians who have made significant contributions to the betterment of life in our community.
This year's award will be given to Cadet Gunnery Sergeant Zachery Benedict. Major Tom McGrath, leader of JROTC classes in Michigan City High School, confirmed that Zachary has performed more that 350 hour of community service over the last 3 years.
Zachary is serving on the armed and unarmed basic platoon squad leader and a commander on the armed squad.
Zachary, son of Thomas and Alexandria Benedict, will receive this award at the JROTC awards ceremony to be held at Michigan City High School in May.
