Meals on Wheels of LaPorte County is currently delivering to over 280 clients daily. Our mission is to provide a HOT meal and a connection with a volunteer. We can offer a lifeline to individuals who are homebound, elderly or disabled. While delivering a meal, we are able to share a smile, offer a hand, and most importantly a wellness check. For 50 years we have been providing daily meals, delivered by volunteers. Nutritious meals create an opportunity to build a relationship and strengthen bonds with everyone. That opens the door for Meals on Wheels to identify and deliver valuable services that promote independence and well-being. Regular meal delivery from Meals on Wheels in the comfort of the home provides tailored nutrition, social connection, safety and more. |

The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge is one of the worlds toughest motorcycle challenges. It is a charity ride with the focus being on self discovery and community where the participants both challenge themselves on the road and raise monies for their communities or chosen charities. It’s a 10,000 mile challenge where the participants have to navigate without the use of modern equipment and follow a prescribed route with only paper turn by turn directions. The route is almost all on two lane roads and go thru national forests, national parks, Indian reservations, mountain ranges and some of the best scenery North America has to offer. The participants also have to sleep outdoors next to their motorcycles during the entire challenge. And finally, can you complete it in less than 14 days?? That’s the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge. This year’s challenge will begin in Daytona Florida, go to Key West and finish in Homer Alaska 10-14 days later. |
