Purdue Extension - Food Insecurity Initiatives

Caroline Arnett is the Community Wellness Coordinator at Purdue Extension in La Porte County.  She seeks out people and organizations who want to make the healthy choice the easy choice.  She has been in Public Health for 4 years, and prior to that worked in sales with an environmental consulting firm and owned her own business in home management.  She graduated Indiana University in 2011 with a BA in Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations.

In 2008, Caroline saw her hometown grocery store close its’ doors during the recession.  After researching the social and economic impacts of a community without easy access to a stocked and diverse grocery store, Caroline decided to purse work that would make a change.  She has been working within our local communities on creating community engagement and public health initiatives that reduce obesity and diabetes in our communities while strengthening economic resources.
