President's Message

Thanks to the Rotary Club of La Porte for inviting us to their annual meeting at the La Porte Municipal Airport.  We enjoyed watching the B17 fly over and land at the airport.  The speaker, fellowship, and tour of the B17 were terrific.  Also, our club took first prize in the paper airplane competition thanks to Maggi Spartz.

Our August 27th meeting will be a face to face meeting at the Barker Mansion.  We have taken all precautions recommended by the CDC, local government, and state health officials.  We will be accepting credit cards for dinner, the queen drawing, and the eyeglasses programs.  Face masks are mandatory and hand cleaner as well as alcohol to clean up the credit card machine will be available.  In order to let Patrick's Grille know how many lunches to bring to the meeting we need you to fill out the RSVP form located here or call or email me to let us know you are coming.  If we have internet access at the mansion, we will also have the meeting online.

Also, don't forget to tell me how we can improve your participation in the club using the Suggestion Box on the navigation menu above.

In the meantime, continue to join your fellow Rotarians at our online meetings at noon on Thursdays.  This week you can hear from Maggi Spartz as well as share in fellowship.  You can join the meeting by clicking https://bit.ly/rotary3376mtg and by telephone at 312-535-8110 access code: 126 188 3153.

If you haven't attended for a while, know that you are missed.  I hope to "see" all of you on Thursday.

Tom Keene, Rotary Garden Project Manager
Rotary Club of Michigan City

Tom brought us up to date on the Rotary Garden project.  He indicated that most of the weeds have been pulled and the day lilies are being removed as most them have their flowers eaten by the deer.  Progress is on hold right know until Tom can get rid a nest of ground bees in the garden.

He hopes to have plants available next week and needs volunteers to help plant them.
