President's Message

Greetings Rotary! This week our board made a few decisions for the club's future! We will be going through a transition into meetings outside of lunch only. Our new meeting structure will be as follows:

First Thursday of each month
Breakfast (7-8am)
Second and third Thursday
Lunch (12-1pm)
Fourth and possibly fifth Thursday
Dinner/social event (6-7pm)

Our new meeting structure hopefully gives more Rotarians freedom to join more frequently and create exciting new environments. We want to gain focus on small business and networking. Our belief is the time flexibility will offer more and stronger networking opportunities.

As of August, we will no longer be accepting guests at no charge. We have experienced a significant impact from too many guests and no income, which has created an avenue for loss. If you have a special guest, please RSVP for the meeting, or reach out to any board member for approval. If acceptable and approved there will be no charge for that guest for one week.

The budget for 2022-23 has also been approved. This year will be a fun and exciting adventure of success!

We are still looking for volunteers at Friendship Botanical Gardens. If anyone is available to assist at any time please reach out to Fabiola Voltz @ fabiolavoltz@outlook.com or myself @ 219-608-8361 (call or text) I will make myself available at any time any club, or non-club member is available. I look forward to hearing from anyone interested in assisting, even if you're only able to supervise. We welcome any help!

RI President Jennifer Jones crosses Canada from coast to coast to coast
Jennifer Jones began her term as Rotary International’s 2022-23 president in the midst of her Imagine Rotary Canada Tour, traveling coast to coast to coast to draw attention to the positive and lasting impact that Rotary clubs have in their communities.

"The Canada tour was awesome because it brought together different demographics," she said. "Every stop was representative of all ages, all cultures. The Rotary family was so excited to be together, to be in person, and showcase what they were doing. There were incredible, incredible things that people planned."

Organized around several hubs, the tour started on 17 June with an excursion through Yukon and the Northwest Territories, brushing up against the Beaufort Sea, an arm of the Arctic Ocean and one of Canada's three coasts. From there, it visited Jones' home city of Windsor, Ontario, and then the nation's capital, Ottawa. It next moved to St. John's on the Atlantic Ocean before heading west through Quebec City, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver before reaching Victoria on the Pacific Ocean.
