World Polio Day
Rotary and its partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) have had to take bold action in the historic fight against polio. At Rotary’s 6th annual World Polio Day event on 24 October in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, we’ll highlight the monumental and innovative steps that are getting us closer to our goal. We’ll also celebrate 30 years of achievements by the GPEI. Click here to learn more about the event in Philadelphia.
How to make literacy fun
Alma Dhiafira was excited to be part of her Rotaract club's ludruk, a form of traditional theater native to Surabaya, Indonesia. The Rotaractors organized the performance with the help of their sponsor Rotary club for Surabaya's 725th anniversary. The lively and comedic ludruk was a great way to show that learning can be fun and how young people can work together with leaders in a community to make a difference.

Travel as a force for peace
Rick Steves, author of travel guidebooks and host of the public television series Rick Steves' Europe, explains why he has come to view travel as a force for peace in the September issue of The Rotarian. Steves believes encouraging young people to travel, such as through Rotary Youth Exchange and Peace Fellowships, is one of the most practical investments we can make in peace. Says, Steves, "people to people connections help us learn that we can disagree and still coexist peacefully."
