Boys and Girls Club of Michigan City

 

Since 2015, Brandi Lewis has served as Executive Director for the Boys & Girls Club of Michigan City. Prior to joining the Boys & Girls Club movement, she worked for Dunebrook for over 14 years developing her passion for empowering others and serving the community. Under her leadership, Boys & Girls Club of Michigan City has benefited from an array of innovative programs, expanded partnerships and increased involvement in the greater Michigan City community. 

Brandi studied for 3 years at Indiana University Bloomington before receiving both her undergraduate degree in Communications and MBA from Purdue North Central.  She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and a graduate of Leadership Northwest Indiana. Born and raised in Michigan City, she is married to her high school sweetheart with 3 children.

The topic of police violence has made headlines around the world, particularly in the United States and Canada. Rotary Peace Fellow Bryan Nykon is using his training in critical listening to lessen the chances of violence during police activities. Nykon graduated from the Rotary Peace Center at Bradford University, and is now an instructor at the state-of-the-art Police Tactical Training Center in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where he leads a judo class for police officers in high-yield, low-risk judo.

 

 

Since 1993, Rotarians in Chile and the United States have been teaming up to provide life-altering reconstructive surgeries for thousands of children with cleft lips, cleft palates, and other birth defects. The project got its start when San Francisco Rotarians sponsored a medical mission. That was the beginning of Rotaplast, a program that evolved into a nonprofit organization that has since sent teams to 26 countries.
