President's Message

I just received my second shot of the cobra-19 vaccine and it has gotten me thinking about how thankful I am for being able to get this far.

That also has me thinking about gratitude.

Ask yourself how often have I received kindness or gifts from others? Now ask yourself how often have I thanked those who have provided me this kindness or gifts?

I know that I like to be thanked for things I have done but I am remiss in thanking others for things that they've done for me.

As an exercise in gratitude, think of a person in your life who has influenced you in a positive manner. This can be a person in your life now or at some time in the in your past. When was the last time you thanked that person for all they have done or what they mean to you?

Now take some time to write a thank you note to that person. And then ask yourself the following questions.

Why did I choose the person that I selected?
What did I feel as I wrote the thank you note?
Why did I not thank this person before?
Now that I have written this note, will I mail or give the note to the person?

Finally, ask yourself who in my life has been an example of someone filled with gratitude?

In summary, if you take your time to be grateful you must concentrate on the positive things that are happening to you and you won't have time to ponder the negative things in life.

Boys and Girls Club of La Porte County

Every kid deserves a place. A place to feel safe. A place to feel connected. A place to belong. Boys & Girls Clubs of La Porte County provides these types of places – where kids can go after school, during the summer and while school is operating online – to learn and grow beyond the classroom.

In a typical year, around 500 young people enjoy enriching activities at our three Club sites. With curriculum and activities focused on Academic Support, Character & Citizenship and Healthy Lifestyles, kids ages 4 to 18 stay very busy at our Clubs! Thanks to our community’s support, Club membership and access to all of our programming is now completely free for all children.

Our online meeting format

Our online meetings are being run as follows:

When you join the meeting, you will be placed at a one many of virtual tables with other Rotarians and Guests.
Participants will be added to the tables they arrive.
One Rotarian has been assigned to the table to lead introductions and some ice breaker questions.
After 15 minutes everyone will come back to the main meeting where we will discuss the ice breaker questions.
This will be followed by the program.
We may have a short Sarge program (optional).
The meeting will be adjourned.

We hope you will enjoy the fellowship at your tables prior to the meeting.
