President's Message

Due to scheduling conflicts, The Rotary Homecoming scheduled for this Thursday, June 2nd, has been postponed.
Instead of having a meeting on Thursday, we are gathering at 8:00am Friday, June 3 for breakfast and fellowship at Dune Billies Beach Cafe on 201 Center Street along Trail Creek.

Also, we are encouraging you to attend the Salvation Army's 7th annual Donut Eating Contest scheduled for 9:00am at the Blue Chip Casino which is located just a couple of minutes from Dune Billies.

Last week (May 26th) We heard from Candice Antisdel and Sandy O'Dell from Fried's Cat Shelter.  They also brought one of the cats.
Fried's Cat Shelter is home to over 300 cats and is a no-kill shelter.  Candice and Sandy spoke about the need for volunteers and the opportunities to help or just play with the cats.  See their presentation here.

Last Wednesday (May 25th) I had the honor of representing the Rotary Club of Michigan City at the Our Community Salutes of Northwest Indiana event celebrating military bound high school graduates at the Salute the Recruits dinner in Valparaiso.  280 people were there to recognize 45 recruits and roughly 100 parents or family members.  The Valparaiso Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs as well as the La Porte and Michigan City Rotary Clubs came together to make this event possible. The Rotary Garden Needs Work
Volunteers Needed!

One half of the Rotary Garden needs to be completely tilled up and replanted.

The Rotary Garden is a centerpiece for wedding celebrations and public festivals at the Friendship Botanic Gardens. When the Garden staff gives tours, they feature Rotary and its mission.  Therefore, the garden has to be in tip top shape.

It’s June, so work has to be accomplished ASAP.

Please let us know if you are willing to help with this special project. Send your replies to info@mcrotary.org.
Clarification of Dues and Meal Costs
There seems to be some confusion about dues and meal costs.  To clarify:

Regular Active members' dues are $150.00 every six months.
Corporate members' dues are $205.00 every six months which covers a primary member and a designated alternate.  If more than one alternate is desired it is $55.00 every six months for each additional alternate.

Meal costs are $15.00 paid at the door.
A guest's meal is free the first time the guest attends a meeting. After that, it's $15 payable at the door.

Corporations have the option of paying $300 to cover all meals for one person per meeting for six months.
