Working in conjunction with the Our Shot La Porte County Initiative and the Michigan City Area Schools the CID was held at the school system’s Back to School Rally. HealthLinc, an area health provider, and the La Porte County Health department were there to administer the Pfizer vaccine to 12 and older and the Johnson and Johnson vaccine to adults. The idea for the CID came from an NID (National Immunization Day) that club President Jim Welborne participated in when he went to India to administer the polio vaccine. Through the use vaccinations throughout the world Rotary has been able to limit the presence of the wild poliovirus to two countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Games/entertainment were available for kids in the waiting area. And the following prizes were available to those who got vaccinated: - Adults: 3 - $100 Gift Cards
- Kids: 3 - Nintendo Switches
- Drawing will be 21 days later, the winner will be contacted
The Current vaccination percentage for La Porte County is 52.1%, the goal is to get to at least 70%. Thanks to Rotarians Pastor Carroll, Pat Donoghue, Cara Jones, Matt Kubik, Nicole Manning, Jim Scott, Maggi Spartz, Debbie Tatum, Suzy Vance, Terry Voltz, Jim Welborne, Lance Werner, and Ken Wilson for their participation. |
