President's Message

Rotarians make a difference on a global scale. Your membership gives you access to a global network of professionals and leaders who share a passion for applying their collective expertise and resources to make a positive change.

Here are some ways to connect with the Rotary world.

MEET OTHER MEMBERS with similar interests by joining a Rotary Fellowship or a Rotarian Action Group. Rotary Fellowships are formed around hobbies, interests, or vocations, and Rotarian
Action Groups are formed around dedication to a particular cause.  View lists of Rotary Fellowships and Rotarian Action Groups and contact one directly using the Rotary Fellowships directory or the Rotarian Action Groups directory.

PARTICIPATE IN INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS.
Help our club partner with clubs in other parts of the world to address a need in one of their communities. Together, we can leverage Rotarian and Rotary alumni expertise to build long-term partnerships for sustainable projects. You can find clubs that need partners, more volunteers, or other support on Rotary Ideas.

HELP ERADICATE POLIO either by volunteering for a National Immunization Day (NID), contributing to the cause, or helping to spread the word. Email polioplus@rotary.org to connect with Rotarians leading upcoming trips. Post about polio on your social media page, contribute to the PolioPlus Fund, or include a link to endpolio.org in your email signature.

ATTEND ROTARY EVENTS to exchange ideas and meet people. Attend the Rotary International Convention, which is held in a different international city each year, with friends from our club or district. You will enjoy inspiring talks from global leaders, celebrities, and activists, meet members from around the world, and learn how to expand Rotary’s impact. Learn more at rotary.org/events.

SUPPORT ROTARY’S CURRENT WORK by giving to the Annual Fund, which sustains thousands of projects that are being conducted in your community and around the world. The Rotary Foundation supports projects and programs that transform lives by tackling poverty, disease, conflict, and lack of education and water. Contact Matt Kubick or go to rotary.org/give to donate.

ATTEND OUR ONLINE MEETINGS at https://bit.ly/rotary3376mtg and/or by phone at 312-535-8110 access code: 126 188 3153.  Get information about this week's speaker below.  Click here to view videos of prior meetings.

"Thanks to the fight-or-flight mechanism in our brains, we’re conditioned to seek out bad news and focus on the negative. This can have deleterious effects on our mental and physical health. It can be tempting to cope with bad news and emotionally challenging life events by overworking, but that only compounds those negative side effects. Instead, take a couple minutes each morning to reflect on and write down three things: what you’ll focus on, what you’re grateful for, and what you’ll let go of. This practice won’t fix everything, but it will prime your brain for positivity and improve the quality of your day."  ---Neil Pasricha, Harvard Business Review

Your matching foundation recognition points can be used in several ways:

For example, your personal gift of $500 will be matched with 500 points for a total value of $1,000 to achieve designation as a Paul Harris Fellow.

2)  To recognize another individual with a full Paul Harris Fellow designation or an initial contribution.
For example, your $1000 check will be matched with 1,000 points to award Paul Harris Fellow designation to a relative, a community member, or another Rotarian.

3)  For multiple recognitions, any combination of points designations for yourself and/or other individuals, with a minimum of 100 points per designation.
For example, your personal gift of $500 will earn 500 points. You can keep 200 points for yourself to attain the next level, and award 300 points to a deserving new member of your club to inspire future sustaining contributions to the foundation and a future Paul Harris Fellow designation.
