President's Message

This was a busy week for the Rotary Club of Michigan City. We held our first breakfast meeting at Dune Billies Beach Cafe where we heard Clarence Hulse give us a brief preview of what his program is going to be next week. Click on the Breakfast Pictures link below.

After the meeting some Rotarians went over to the Blue Chip Casino and watched the Salvation Army's donut eating contest.  Jessica O'Brien represented the club in the contest and ate a whopping four doughnuts. I think she was already too sweet before she started. Based on pictures in the link below, maybe next year we ought to get Terry Voltz to be our representative.

On Saturday, I met Terry and Fabiola Voltz at the Friendship Botanic Gardens where we did a preliminary cleanup on half the garden. Actually, they did the work while I provided moral support and lunch. You can click on Garden pictures below to see the results.

NOTE:  Thursday's Meeting (June 9th) will be at the Agave Mansion- Second Floor – 110 W 9th St. Michigan City.  This meeting will be in person only and will not be recorded.  See the article below for details.

The Rotary Garden Needs Work
Volunteers Needed!

One half of the Rotary Garden needs to be completely tilled up and replanted.

The Rotary Garden is a centerpiece for wedding celebrations and public festivals at the Friendship Botanic Gardens. When the Garden staff gives tours, they feature Rotary and its mission.  Therefore, the garden has to be in tip top shape.

It’s June, so work has to be accomplished ASAP.

Please let us know if you are willing to help with this special project. Send your replies to info@mcrotary.org.
