Human Trafficking - Indiana Attorney General Office
 
The Office of the Indiana Attorney General helps protect the rights, freedoms, and safety you enjoy as a citizen of the Hoosier state.
Denise Robinson is Chief Counsel of Investigations with the Office of the Indiana Attorney General in Indianapolis where her duties include supervision of the civil and criminal sections of the Investigations Division and the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. The Human Trafficking Unit is part of criminal investigations and is staffed with both Deputies Attorney General and Special Investigators.

Until January 20, 2017, Denise was a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office in Indianapolis, Indiana. Employed as a full-time deputy prosecutor in Indiana since 1992, Denise joined MCPO in April 2006 starting in the Homicide Division where her prosecution of homicide cases included cases seeking life without parole and/or the death penalty. In 2007, Denise became supervisor of the Homicide Division; in 2011, she became the Special Crimes Unit supervisor which included complex homicide prosecutions, including child homicides, as well as other high profile prosecutions in Indianapolis. She was also the homicide coordinator for MCPO, which included responsibility for screening and filing all homicide-related cases. She has successfully prosecuted, as lead counsel, numerous high profile homicide cases.

Before coming to Indianapolis, Denise was a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Elkhart County, Indiana for over three years where she was responsible for prosecuting homicide and major felony cases, heading the drug task force, and conducting in-house training for deputy prosecuting attorneys and for law enforcement. Prior to Elkhart County she was Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for over ten years, serving LaGrange County, Indiana.

She received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University, her J.D. degree from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Laws in International Business and Trade from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. She is currently enrolled at Christian Theological Seminary in the Master of Divinity program.
Denise has instructed law enforcement officers and prosecuting attorneys in Indiana and throughout the United States on various legal and trial topics. She has taught for the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA), AGACL and various state prosecuting agencies on topics including DNA, arson and other complex homicide prosecutions, child death cases, jury selection, cold case homicides, pre-trial issues in death penalty and other complex homicide cases, and human trafficking

Platon, Powerful Portraits: An Intimate Look at Humanity and Leadership
 
Platon is an internationally known photographer whose portraits capture the personalities behind the public faces of the world’s most powerful decision makers. Shooting portraits for a range of international publications including Rolling Stone, The New York Times magazine, Vanity Fair, Esquire and GQ, Platon developed a special relationship with TIME magazine, producing over 20 covers for them. In 2007, he photographed Russian Premier Vladimir Putin for TIME magazine’s “Person of the Year” cover. This image was awarded 1st prize at the World Press Photo Contest. Platon is a communicator and storyteller. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums both domestically and abroad.

Reshma Saujani, Women, Technology and Leadership
 
Reshma Saujani is the founder and CEO of Girls Who Code, a national non-profit organization working to close the gender gap in technology. Through its summer immersion programs and clubs, Girls Who Code is leading the movement to inspire, educate, and equip young women with the computing skills to pursue 21st century opportunities. Saujani’s TED talk, “Teach girls bravery, not perfection,” has more than 3 million views and sparked a national conversation about how we’re raising our girls. Saujani is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and Yale Law School.

Robert Costa, Inside 2018: Understanding the Midterm Elections
 
Robert Costa is a national political reporter for The Washington Post, where he covers the White House, Congress and campaigns. He is also the moderator of PBS’ Washington Week, an award-winning news discussion program, and a political analyst for NBC News and MSNBC. Costa is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and holds a master’s degree in politics from the University of Cambridge.

Lou Holtz, Game Plan for Success
 
For many years, Lou Holtz has been considered among the greatest speaking legends in America today. He speaks on overcoming seemingly impossible challenges by setting goals and working to achieve them. Holtz established himself as one of the most successful college football coaches of all time. Twenty-six seasons as a collegiate head coach earned Holtz a sterling reputation for turning pretenders into contenders. He is known for taking football programs and elevating them to the top 20; but nowhere has he done this as impressively than at the University of Notre Dame.

Laura Bush to speak at convention
Former First Lady of the United States Laura Bush, an advocate for literacy, education, and women’s rights, will speak at the 2018 Rotary Convention in Toronto this June. For decades Mrs. Bush has fought for key national and global issues including launching groundbreaking education and healthcare programs in the U.S. and abroad.
 
Women helping women through Rotaract
Immy Julie Nakyeyune Musoke had frequently heard about Rotary as a teenager but never had much interest, until her father died just before his installation as president of the Rotary Club of Mengo, Uganda. Amazed at the support and comfort that poured out of the club, Musoke decided to follow her father's example, and joined the Rotaract Club of Kampala South. She writes about her experiences in the third installment of our series for Youth Services Month.
