Leslie Plesac, executive director of the PNW Sinai Forum will present her annual update to our club to announce the esteemed group of speakers for the 70th season of the Sinai Forum!

 Michigan City Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across the country to host a National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.

“Events like National Night Out allow our Michigan City residents to be more familiar with their first responders and have more comfort and confidence in their interactions,” Forker said. “If they only see first responders during emergency situations, then we are not doing enough. Community partnerships are essential in keeping our city safe and successful

Lubeznik Center for the Arts is sponsoring multiple art "summer camps".  Youth artists will be joining us with some samples of their work as we learn about Lubeznik Centers programs and committment to youth education.

Join the Director and youth actorrs from Michigan City's large and successful youth theater program. Becky Tiedeman program founder and director will share teh history and success of the program. Youth actors will tell of their experiences and the impact on their lives.

Jackie Dermody is the CEO of Family Advocates, Inc., established in 1990. Family Advocates is a non-profit agency that oversees three programs including the state mandated Court Appointed Special Advocate Program, Court Ordered Supervised Visitation and the Community Youth Advocates Program. 

Robin will be reporting on the many children, youth and family support services provided by the MCPL.  The children and youth area was recently renovated and has many features of which the general public is unaware. “I love the community and want to do everything I can to help it keep growing,” she said. “It’s important to help make sure these kids understand how to be part of the community so they can succeed.”

Nora Ryszka is a protagonist for peace: personal peace, community peace, and environmental peace.  Nora will tell her story of developing a peace curricuum for her students while teaching in Pheonix, AZ and the impoac that it had on her students and eventually the whole school.  As an entreprenuer her peace strategies continued into the development of her online business Montessori Restore.  

Join us to hear about the La Porte County Public Library's efforts on early childhood literacy, in particular, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. 

Fonda Owens is the director of the La Porte County Public Library. She is not all work and no play. She has been a member of the La Porte Rotary Club for nearly 10 years. She enjoys gardening, and cooking - especially concocting her own homemade bread recipes. She believes in the power of spoken words and has a great love of storytelling.

Rotarian Mike Kilbourne is the is the PATH Coordinator for the Swanson Center.  His job is to seek out the homeless and hidden people in our community to provide assistance.  Mike will share his personal story of loss, redemption, failure and success. 

At a regular meeting in October of each year, two months prior to the meeting in December each year for election of officers, the presiding president-elect shall present suggestions for a slate of officers (president-elect, secretary, and treasurer), and four (4) to five (5) directors. The members of the club may then suggest nominations that will then be presented to a nominating committee formed and chaired by the presiding president-elect. The nominating committee will prepare a slate of officers and directors.

At a regular meeting in November of each year, one month prior to the meeting in December each year for election of officers, the nominating committee will present the slate of officer and directors to the club to be voted for at the annual meeting in December

Join us for a breakfast meeting as the Rotary Club of Michigan City presents the annual Service Above Self Awards to first responders and educators in our community.
Doors open at 8:30 am and the program will begin at 9:00 am at The Salvation Army of Michigan City, 1201 Franklin Street.

Annual Meeting. An annual meeting of this club shall be held on the day of the first regular meeting of the Rotary club in December of each year, at which time the election of officers and directors to serve for the ensuing year shall take place.
