This week (October 7th) we will be watching a video of pastor Dennis on his bike ride to promote COVID vaccinations.
Also, we will hear from Andrew Tallakson who has been the editor of The Beacher Weekly Newspaper since 2013 and before that the entertainment editor at The News-Dispatch for 15 years. In 2013, he was one of four producers on John Hancock’s independent film “The Looking Glass,” and in 2018 performed on piano with LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra. He has served as the musical director for two LaPorte Little Theatre Club shows, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and “Little Shop of Horrors,” and plays keyboard at Journey Church, where he is a member. He and his wife, Alice, a kindergarten teacher at Crichfield Elementary School, have a 15-year-old son, Will. They live in Trail Creek.
His talk today will focus on The Beacher and its role in the community.
Last week (September 30th) we heard from Angela Nelson Deuitch, MPA, CDP. A Results Driven Business Professional, Inclusion & Diversity Champion, Certified Facilitator and Community Activist.
Angie launched her own consulting firm, I & D Squared Consulting, LLC. in 2017 focused on improving diversity and inclusion in the region. Her goal is to work with local non-profits and businesses on improving relationships and services to diverse customers, attracting and retaining top talent, and building an inclusive leadership culture. She is a certified facilitator with the Cultural Intelligence Center. She recently left NiSource after ten years to work full- time on her business and newly formed non-profit, The Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Academy (IDEA).
She is also very active in the community and with several non-for-profit organizations. Her passion is geared towards youth leadership and education. She is on the board of directors of the Unity Foundation of LaPorte County, LaPorte County Career and Tech Center Advisory Board and United Way of LaPorte County. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Indiana United Way. She is an At-Large member of the Michigan City Common Council.

Global Citizen Live, a 24-hour broadcast with events and performances across six continents, aimed to unite people to take action to defend the planet, end the COVID-19 pandemic, defeat poverty, provide education for all children, and promote equity and justice for all. Some of the world’s top artists, celebrities, activists, and government leaders participated in this year’s event to raise awareness and support in cities including Paris; Lagos, Nigeria; London, UK; Los Angeles, USA; New York City, USA; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Seoul, Korea; and Sydney, Australia.
