Speaking on Peace

Paul K. Chappell
is an international peace educator and serves as the Peace Leadership Director of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation. He graduated from West Point, was deployed to Iraq, and left active duty as a Captain. He is the author of the seven-book Road to Peace series about ending war, waging peace, the art of living, and our shared humanity. The first five published books in this series are Will War Ever End?, The End of War, Peaceful Revolution, The Art of Waging Peace, and The Cosmic Ocean. Lecturing across the United States and internationally, he also teaches courses and workshops on peace leadership and peace literacy.
Chappell grew up in Alabama, the son of a half-black and half-white father who fought in the Korean and Vietnam wars, and a Korean mother. Having grown up in a violent household, Chappell has forged a new understanding of war and peace, rage and trauma, and vision, purpose, and hope. His website is www.peacefulrevolution.com.

Meet Rotary's Champions of Peace
November’s Rotary Day at the United Nations, in Geneva, Switzerland, will focus on one of Rotary’s top humanitarian priorities: peace and conflict resolution. Six honorees, including four Rotary members and two alumni of Rotary Peace Centers, will be recognized for their commitment to and work on behalf of peace projects in their communities. Their diversity reflects the varied ways that Rotary members address underlying causes of conflict.

Little-known polio facts
In Syria, ice cream factories have joined the fight against polio. Find out how they're helping and more you might not have known about the polio campaign. In anticipation of World Polio Day this October, study up and share knowledge with your communities and networks. The more people know about polio, the closer we get to wiping it out for good.

How to help Disaster victims
Severe storms, an earthquake, and hurricanes are wreaking havoc across the globe from the United States and Mexico to South Asia and Africa. The Rotary Foundation and Rotary clubs in affected areas are helping bring emergency aid to battered communities.
