Narcan training

Ann Klute from the La Porte County Health Department and Joseph Bunch from the La Porte County Drug Free Partnership will teach Rotarians about the proper administration of Narcan, training that could possibly save a life.

Naloxone (Narcan™) is an opiate antidote which reverses an opioid overdose in much the same manner as an EpiPen (epinephrine injection) reverses an allergic reaction. Opioids include heroin, fentanyl, and prescription pain pills like OxyContin, Percocet, methadone, and Vicodin. It cannot be used to get a person high. If given to one who has not taken opioids, it will not have any effect on them, since there are no opioids in their system to reverse.
